Sony has built a strong repuation for professional and consumer electronics over the years. As times change and technology becomes more affordable, an increasing number of people are establishing small businesses and home offices. The IT-ID80 is aimed directly at this new and burgeoning market and, as usual, Sony offers something understated and functional for the 'prosumer'.

At first glance, you look past the basic black, gray-accented body to focus your attention on the large Caller ID display and associated navigation controls. The three-line LCD panel provides plenty of room to display a caller's name and telephone number simultaneously. As a bonus, the Caller ID function even works wth Call Waiting, so you can screen incoming calls. Of course, to use either or both of these features, you must subscribe to your local telecom services provider's Caller ID and/or Call Waiting service.

The telephone also boasts a time and date stamp function so you know when any given call arrived, and a readout of the number of calls, old and new, you have either received or stored in memory.
