What's New at Geartest.com

Geartest.com's new look

Version 2.0, our first redesign, is our initial response to your comments and suggestions on ways to improve and make Geartest.com easier to use. Don't be surprised to see more changes in the future as we implement more of your suggestions!

Previous visitors to the site will notice we've:

  • added a subject-specific newsfeed, updated throughout the day, so you can get the latest news and articles on hardware, software and gear, 24-7
  • added contextual links to related sites, reviews and articles on the upper right of our pages so you can easily find more information on your subject of interest
  • added pages for upcoming reviews and articles so you can bookmark them, create shortcuts on your desktop, and go directly to them to check for updates when you launch your Web browser
  • reduced the number of ads and graphical elements on each page in favor of text links and elements, speeding up load times and allowing you to find what you're looking for... fast!
  • added a universal gold navigation bar with fewer items, to help you easily find the key sections of this site
  • moved our Hotlinks to the upper left of every page so you can reach our main departments easily with just one click from anywhere on the site
  • expanded and improved our use of color to help you separate standard page elements from our articles and reviews
  • reduced clutter by moving our site identification to the top of our pages and using the same bold logo that greets you when you enter the site
  • moved our contact and information buttons to the foot of the page, enhancing our cleaner look

What's a real-world product review? In simple terms, we field test hardware, software and other gear. We subject these products to all of the use and abuse they would receive from a typical (or not so typical) person in normal (or extreme), real world conditions. Then we write a detailed review to tell you about it.

We aren't like those other sites that fire off a review after an hour or less of playing with a product that won't be available for six months or more. We conduct long-term evaluations in day-to-day testing. We only review products that are available to you right now. We only use testers who are well-versed in the area of products they are testing. If we don't have the expertise we need on staff, we find someone who has it.

If there's something you'd like to see, let us know and we'll do our best to help you out.

In the meanwhile, feel free to browse the site. We have hotlinks to our most popular sections on the left side of the page, just below our logo.

Enjoy! And we hope to see you often.
